My 80'S Early Fishing Beginnings...

It was in the year 1988 and i was 13 years old. I've saved my school's pocket money to buy myself a $69 dollars of a 03piece Silstar power tip 12'ft rod from old Nordin Deep Sea shop. Seeing my enthusiasm, my dad handover 02 of his precious Daiwa 4000c spinning reels to me. After school, iam often at Bedok Jetty. It's was such great moments for me to witnessed and learned the basic shorefishing and technics by the veteran fisherman there. I was always witnessing them fighting and landed Monster fishes there like the Giant Shovelnose or the Giant Stingrays. In one of  my fishing spots in Punggol area track 22, I mananged to land a 4kg Stingray. I was fishing, facing Coney Island and the surrounding was all original/natural of mangrove swamps. The fish whacked my dead prawn rendering my rod into a "U" shaped bend. The line kept coming out in a slow strong motion for about 2 minutes, non-stop in a lightly tight drag. It was an unforgettable experience.

This is an era where i've gently stroked some of the others legendary famous surf rods brands such as the Silstar Traverse Tournament X 12'5ft, the Daiwa TDPK 13ft, the Daiwa Sealine Surf 12ft, the Shakesphere Ugly Stick 12ft with the three stars logo and usa made, the Silstar Power Surf rods, Penn Slammer surf rods with the earlier white colour n many others. My sister posing wt my Silstar power tip rod and a Daiwa 4000c spinning reel japanese made.
I was constantly going fishing at this time.
Picture of me with my classmate surfcasting at Coralium [before reclaimed] in Sentosa. Behind us was the Pulau Buran Darat. Although, we encounter a lot of snags[sangkut], we were always happy fishing cos there's a lot of  lesson to be learned. The experience of sangkut were priceless...!!! Sometimes we managed to land Duris, a small ray and some smaller fishes, like the Parrot fish.

Some of our catches fishing in Sentosa. Ive bought my 1st multiplyer reel, the Daiwa Sealine without knowing that it was a boat model n it had the line guider too. That one night, it was used on Bedok jetty. My mind understood n learned the agony of blow ups or Char Bee Hoon on this reel!!
