Chinese New Year- of the Shark???

It was chinese new year today, and most all of our kaki's decide to gather tonight.....What a better way to meet up and fish at the same time....Our expectations were high......But....!!!!

First-up, it was Mateen who opened the floodgates for us......What an experience to be reviewed and learned by me,.... He was grabbing hold of his 7'6'ft Silstar Dia-Flex rod after indicating a small bite and true to his instincts, he waited for around 5 to 10 minutes before giving it a hard and sudden strike...A 500g Lengchiam or Emperor Snapper was steadily subdude......

Mateen posing for a closer look of the Magnificent Emperor....It promised a good beginning for the day after that...Everybody were on-guard.....Till.....

Even, our hardcore permanent resident fisherman there, Tay, managed to hooked a nice table size Sweetlip or Ikan kaci...

The kaci was about 600g in weight...All of us were in high spirits...However, we were wrong....

Being the in-form fisherman at the moment, Tay gave a sudden fright to us all....He ran to his rod and whacked it hard....He reeled it in and a Ikan Sembilang or Catfish Eel was it......The bites were decreasing at that moment till....Oh..Nooooo....!!!

I had to re-confirmed by touching the sinker...It was so cold...By this time, Tay had hooked an eel and this shows that the water temperature had drastically changed.....and fish bites were already scare....

Next, was Kevin with his spot-on striking on his self-customed 6'ft Expedition rod. A tug-of-war between him and the fish can be seen by the constant U-bend of his rod. Being a seasoned fisherman, he pumped in steadily with short-strokes in order to avoid the fish diving down to the corals below. After a fierce fight, a 1.5kg Dog Shark or Ikan Yu came up surrendering. Definately, none of us would consumed the sharks....But, they were worth for the picture taking all right...

All the sharks were released unharmed after picture taking....It gave us a bit of workout....for Kevin the Sharkman....

Even i was in the thick of the action.....The shark crunched hard on the bait, then sprinting causing my 7'6'ft Opsray rod to bend over into a U-shape giving me a hard workout...I mananged to guide the shark safely to me but not without putting my Abu6500c4 reel in extreme drag pressure condition....

The Dog shark or Ikan Yu was about 1.5kg...All the sharks or undersized fish were released safely...Tks, for your attention....
